Google Nexus S Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) Smartphone

Samsung and Google have officially announced the upcoming launch of new Samsung-made Google Nexus S flagship smartphone, which the companies claim as the world’s first handset to equip the newest, fastest version of Google Android platform – Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS.


Key features and specs of Google Nexus S:

  • 1GHz Cortex A8 (Hummingbird) processor paired with dedicated Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
  • 4.0-inch WVGA (480×800 pixels;235ppi) Super AMOLED multi-touch contour display with anti-fingerprint coating
  • 5-megapixel auto focus camera with flash, plus VGA front-facing camera
  • 16GB on-board memory paired with 512MB of RAM
  • Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with enhanced keyboard, Internet calling (VoIP/SIP support) and NFC (near field communication) support
  • A-GPS, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR and Wi-Fi 802.11 n/b/g connectivity
  • 3-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, digital compass, proximity sensor and light sensor

Google Nexus S which measures 63 x 123.9 x 10.88 mm and weights 129 grams is slated to hit Best Buy stores after December 16 for $199, with a new 2-year T-Mobile service agreement. And the unlocked version (SIM free) for Nexus S Android 2.3 powered smartphone is priced at $529.
